The Diurnal Motion of the Earth

The first index of time is the rotation of our planet on its axis. That first index that we examine in Cozmophyzix is called the Diurnal (from Latin diurnalis and diurnis) which simply means  by day, of the day, or daily. We teach you to study how the earth spins on its axis and makes it appear that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west and then rises again twenty four (24) hours later. Contrary to popular opinion the earth does not spin 360° in one day. The earth spins 361° in one day depending on the system of measurement that you are using to measure its rotation. You have a siderial day which would be 360° , but this sidereal day does not take into account the fact that the sun actually moves  1° per day. By ignoring that idea you are ignoring the fact that the earth is also moving around  the sun which is the measurement that we call the Annum. This basic understanding of the Earth’s movement is the foundation upon which we determine the shape or the actual form that a person’s birthchart takes.

It is very  important that we keep track of this. The science is just as important as it is for a society to keep a calendar of months and days. To understand the movement of the day or that motion we are going to quarter a circle into 90°sections. These 4  section points represent the east, south, west, and north going clockwise starting on the left hand side of the horizon.

  1. Draw a circle . The circle will represent the twenty four hour (24) circle of the day and spin of the earth.
  2. Cut the circle in half horizontally. That same circle is symbolic to a map of the heavens around the earth and your view of the sky from your position on earth . So the horizontal  line represents the horizon.
  3. Cut the circle in half vertically. On the left side of this line is east. The right side is west. Because we are in the Northern Hemisphere, our teaching will be from the PERSPECTIVE that the sun rises in the East and Sets in the West.
  4. This will show the sun everyday being due east  at 6:00 am and at  6:00 pm it is due west.Whether it is above or below the horizon depends upon which state in the equinox we are in and which declination the sun is at. We will deal with that in later chapter/ lessons. Right now it is very important to understand how the chart is measured and how the hours of the day are indicative of the houses.
So let’s review. At 6:00am the sun rises everyday in the east. Six (6) hours later it is due south. If you are  North of the equator  and looking at the sky for the sun it would be due south (it will align itself due south) and at 6:00pm it will be due west. Consequently in another six (6) hours it will be 12 midnight and the sun will be exactly on the other side of the planet.
         5. So now we mark the bottom part of the chart as due North.
Based off of common knowledge you should be familiar that there are   twelve (12) signs of the zodiac. The signs appear to move with the rest of the sky as the earth spins. This is likened to being on a merry-go round. Remember being on a merry-go round with your parents standing on the side? You passed them as you go around and  then they were behind you and the process repeated itself. The merry-go round is exactly like the earth spinning and your parents are like the sun standing there in one place watching you. In all actuality the sun does not revolve around the earth at all. It just appears to revolve around as the earth spins.

If you are standing in front of a person and you turn your back on them when they leave your site that is likened to the sun setting. When you turn back towards the person that is likened to the earth turning back towards the sun. This motion is called the diurnal and it takes twenty four  (24) hours. We divide the day into  twenty four (24) hours. We get this from the Egyptians as well. Each one of the hours of the day are depicted by the zodiac signs.

As Above So Below

We do not believe or bear witness in Cozmophyzix that the planets are the cause of events. We know that the planets are indicators. Planets’ cycles correspond to the biorhythms and therefore can be used as a mechanism to establish the timing of events. There has been a whole lot of work done in the realm of finding scientific manifestation and proof for the mechanism of Cozmophyzix aka astrology. Michel Gauquelin did statistical research on the effects of Mars in the charts of some 1,066 famous athletes. The Magi Society has done work in terms of gathering statistics regarding the movements of the planets and asteroids. Cozmophyzix focuses on educating people as to what their personal cycles are and how these cycles manifest in society and the world at large.

Nature has given us two means to measure the phenomenon in the world, the intuitional and the rational. Just like in nature, Cozmophyzix has the same.  How they manifest is through the usage of math/ geometry to measure the time cycles and we use the intuition to interpret the movement. So we have the motion and we have the movement.  As man has the intuition and rational mind the science has the mathematical and the technical, intuitional and interpretive side so does nature manifest itself in terms of time and space.  As above so below. As it is in the heavens so shall it be on earth in the physical manifestation.  This is the means by which we astrologically measure the potential of a human.

Primary motivation and foundation of Cozmophyzix

When researching the origins of astrology, you are going to find many misnomers. Historians have stated as facts that historically the Sumerians, Greeks, Babylonians, and the Chaldeans were the authors of the science of astrology. One of the oldest known astrological references by Herodotus admits that the Greeks “borrowed” from the Egyptians and in volume two Herodotus ascribes to the Egyptians the invention of the year, astrology/ astronomy, and geometry. He said that the Egyptians aka the Africans were the first ones to give planetary rulers, deities, to the days, weeks, months, and years.  They were the first to prognosticate the life of a man by his birthday all the way from the way he acts to the character of the individual to the events in his life from birth unto death even.

When you have an ancient source like Herodotus confirming that Africans were the originators of this science we come to understand and respect the legacy that is the primary motivation and foundation of Cozmophyzix.

The Necessity of the Geometry (Circumference)of a Circle

Before one can even start to study Cozmophyzix one must understand Base 60 mathematics but more specifically, the geometry of a circle. For more information as to what the Cozmophyzix General Education Requirements are for the Academy of Cozmophyzix,  click here.

You must know the mathematics of the dynamics of the geometry of the circle, Without that knowledge  you can not measure the motion of the day or year, rate of motion of the sign( the revolution through the sky), and the sun’s apparent movement through the zodiac signs. Without knowing the mathematical dynamic of the geometry of a circle than that much is impossible.

We measure the movement of the planets through the signs of the zodiac by angles. We make readings and interpret their movements  and delineate  them by angles and the  relationship they make to one another by virtue of the angles and the distances between them in that circumference. You have to understand the dynamics of the geometry of a circle in order to even apply any of the principles of Cozmophyzix  or astrology and moreover, to make any readings.

What first needs to be understood is that there are 360° in a circle. Degrees are broken down into what we call minutes of arc. Each degree is broken down into 60 minutes of arc. This is not to be confused with time. Minutes of arc are 1/6o  of a degree. Each minute is broken down into 60 seconds. This is how we can measure how far in terms of distance and therefore time. We will be able to tell how far a planet is from another planetary  body or how long a certain planet will stay in it’s specific sign or house.

If you multiply 360 X 60 you will understand how many minutes are in the entire circle of the zodiac. That is 21, 600 minutes. The entire circle of the zodiac is broken down into 12 parts. Each sign is 30°. 30° is the width from the zero point to 29° 59 minutes and 59 seconds of arc. Base 60 mathematics is how the circle is broken down. Degrees are broken down into 60, Minutes are broken down into seconds. Seconds are broken down into sub-seconds. This allows us to find out precisely where in the Zodiac a planet is placed and how far from another planetary body it is. These basics need be understood when you look at a chart because it is more than just interpreting the planets and the signs. For example.  you have Mars at 1° of Leo and the Sun degree at 15° and 17 minutes of Leo you have to be able to measure the distance and thus the time it is going take for Mars (what it indicates) to come into fruition in that person’s life.

Finally, the comprehension of the Earth’s evolution is also mandatory and entails comprehension of the movement (inclination) of the poles, the precession of the equinox, and the nutational process of the poles. These dynamics relate directly to the evolution of man regarding civilization, spiritual growth and development.
